The Tasty in Pennsylvania

"I have followed The Tasty on Instagram for a while and was very eager to visit them. I went on a Sunday morning and there was a bit of a wait, but once we were seated, everything was great. I don’t think you can go wrong with any menu item (100% vegan). The portions are filling and delicious. The bar display at the front counter has all the donuts, and I believe they offer a mixture of staple flavors and rotating flavors. The interior atmosphere is like a diner - it really feels like a unique experience in Philly. I think their menu has changed a bit since I visited, but I’ve included photos of the menu for general reference. Definitely give The Tasty a visit!"

"UPDATED (8/8/24): I have updated my review after this morning to a 5/5. Both times “RIVER” was taking orders at the register and she is so professional and has a wonderful, warm, and friendly persona! She really made me feel welcome there is great with sales because she got me to get another tasty donut that I wasn’t planning to get because I enjoyed it so much the last time! I also met the owners “HANNAH” and “SOFIA” briefly who were also both accommodating, friendly, and professional. I plan to bring my friends here and bring foods and treats from here to introduce them to vegan eats as well! I plan to fit this in my budget to come at least once a week so I can return ! Wonderful to see a vegan diner with such flavorful food and wonderful vibes ! ORIGINAL (8/4/24): Came on a Sunday morning around 9:30 and I had: - 2 biscuits in the Sawmill Gravy (The gravy was DELICIOUS and the biscuits not bland or too hard or too chewy. Right in between) - A side of Tater Tots (I was surprised at the LARGE PORTION of this and found I had to pack some of these and the biscuits for later. I mixed the Tater Tots in the gravy and ate it WITH the biscuits and it was SO YUMMY!) - The Hot Chocolate (Delicious and didn’t need any additional sugar added. Had lots of flavor and some type of sweetener I couldn’t put my hands on that I liked. My only complaint is that it was WARM, and not “HOT” at all! Resulting in me just drinking it like a normal drink. The restaurant was busy tho so I didn’t want to bother the staff with warming it up more for me but it kinda turned me off from ordering it again. Maybe next time I’ll say something). I also found it weird that I was asked to pay upfront because I was dining in and planning to tip but after that I just treated it like a To-Go order place where you buy your food and then can sit and eat it in there."

"Corner restaurant across from a small park, in case you want to eat outside or have a little picnic. Sweet people, Uber helpful and understanding never made any assumptions which was nice as we were new to the place. My favorite was their country biscuits that we mixed in with some sausage patties on the side. I would come back to try their other menu items. And plan to get some of the fun stigmata cookies (it's Easter Sunday) so they look fun. But not sure how my mom and family might take it, even though none are going to services."

"I'm vegetarian and came with my vegetarian friend. We were overwhelmed by being able to order anything on the menu, especially from a diner menu! We decided to split a savory option and a sweet option. Got the stuffed French toast and tofu scramble...and side of biscuits. I didn't want to stop eating.....as a vegetarian (nearly vegan) Ive missed going out for breakfast and being able to order other things besides pancakes. We both had so much fun because of the novelty and because of how incredibly delicious everything was! I usually prefer savory foods but couldn't get enough of the stuffed French toast! The scramble was perfectly seasoned and flavorful, and the biscuits were flaky and buttery. Best vegan breakfast in Philly hands down!"

"Came to Philadelphia for a weekend get away from NYC and I'm going to miss this place! Had breakfast here two days in a row and the food was amazing! Loved the tofu scramble with sausage (and spicy mayo on the side) and the tater tots were perfection! The pancakes were also great. Kuddos to the chef! She was the only one I saw cooking in the back and the food came out quickly and was so well seasoned. Would come back to Philly just to have breakfast here again :)"

"The food is really good and lives up to the name The Tasty. The limited hours and the long waits on the weekend are a real pain, so I recommend you arrive before 11:30 to avoid standing outside in the cold for 30+ min. It was worth it though. The donuts were outstanding. The breakfast burrito was amazing. The chicken cheesesteak was so-so, skip it. The tots and chicken nuggets were really yummy and crispy. I would return here and be sure to arrive bright and early. They do have indoor dining but the entrance is not wheelchair accessible (disappointing). Very LGBTQ friendly."

"Back at the tasty it’s been a little while since I’ve been here about a month. This is the third time I’m here with a friend this time. I decided to have a pork roll egg and cheese called the dirty jersey and it was fantastic. My friend had a biscuit and gravy Bayou style. That was also excellent. Their dirty chai latte was spot on service was great such a nice place. It’s a pleasure to come here and always get great food and such a nice relaxing setting."

"This is the vegan restaurant for breakfast or lunch you want to eat at. The food is fresh, the staff is cool and the atmosphere is chill. You can eat in and if the place is crowded you can always do a quick take out. This is a chill place , not your over the top fancy joint that makes you feel like you can't be yourself. Do it up today."
